NASCO Development Services

Arrowtown has begun to take exciting leaps forward in its effort to find a permanent home for the cooperative. We've formally begun work with NASCO Development Services to identify property and financing for our project.

In helping to best secure the affordable, cooperative group housing we envision, we are fortunate to be able to benefit from the many successful years of development experience that NASCO offers.

Our ideal goal is to have a permanent home in operation by Fall 2009. Check back for more updates!

Headed to NASCO Institute

On November 7 - 9, four Arrowtown members will be in Ann Arbor, Michigan, attending the NASCO Institute. The annual meetings make up a cooperative education and training conference with the aim of sharing ideas, learning new skills and exploring issues that affect the cooperative movement, all hosted by the North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO).

Joining Arrowtown's Work

We recently hosted a series of four info sessions around the Twin Cities and while those opportunities to hear about Arrowtown Housing are in the past, we're still interested in working with you.

Some of the ways we're looking at involving new members are listed below, but we're also very open to hearing about other ways you might like to contribute to the cause of housing for people, rather than for profit.

Ways to get involved:
  • Help start a third house. We are starting a third house (a second one for Minneapolis) and we'd like you to start it with us. You could work closely with one of our current members in taking charge of developing this additional living space for Arrowtowners. If you're interested in starting a third house, contact Tom at tomaphelan+arrowtown@gmail.com
  • Join a house. Get on our prospective member list by e-mailing tomaphelan+arrowtown@gmail.com When we have openings in one of our houses, we'll e-mail you first to invite you to apply for one of the rooms available--our average rent is $430/mo, which includes all utilities. Quite a deal and it supports you and your fellows, which makes the whole thing pretty great.
  • Join a work committee. A lot of the work Arrowtowners do is through our committees. You could join us on Finance and Development, which works to ensure that we are taking the right steps towards a permanent, sustainable organization. And if people are more of your interest, you could join Membership and Outreach in helping us fill rooms, throw sweet parties and being better connected with our neighborhoods and cities.
Just e-mail hollydavisone+arrowtown@gmail.com to start a conversation about any of these options, ask questions or give feedback.
